IMD is responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting and seismology and SJC organized an educational field trip to IMD, Colaba on January 20th, 2023, where 45 students, 2 teachers and the Vice Principal went from 2pm to 4pm. The students were briefly familiarized with seismology (study of earthquakes and related phenomena) and the techniques of a series of observational / weather forecasting work of this department. The process of calculating minimum and maximum temperatures, humidity in the air, wind direction, rainfall intensity and much more was explained via the instruments. Even the process of getting information from the satellites and transmitting it to various organisations and departments as the daily weather forecast was elucidated. The time which the students spent there was very informative and helpful for further studies and curriculum.
